Removing foam

21 januari 2007. The tank used to rest on a floor of foam. But all the foam was removed now since it was probably the root of the problem keeping water/moisture in contact with the tank.

There was some gas-soaked foam where the holes were.

Foam 3

In other places, the foam was partly soaked with gas and there was gas beneath dry parts of the foam

But the foam was actually not as soaked as one might expect. Anyway, at least now it was clear to me that the cereal in the tank was foam which had gotten into the tank through the holes in the tank.

Because the foam appeared to have been painted most of the gas stayed in the tank, despite the big hole. However, since the tank was surrounded by foam, the foam had trapped moisture between the foam and the tank which eventually corroded the tank. There was no way that the moisture could dry up or escape.
