The classic 6 cylinder in-line Mercurys outboard engines have been manufactured by Mercury since the '50s. They can frequently be found on the transoms of the bigger Shakespeares. After 1987,
however, the production of these engines was discontinued as a consequence of the sinking gas quality in the U.S. This is a 1978 125 hp. 6 cylinder in line Mercury beautifully restored by Christen Hvalvik in Norway but now with decals from 76-77 which are his favorite Merc "hockey clubs".(Inboard versions were equipped with MerCruisers.)
